| Fascinated with the idea of impermanence Gabriel
McIntosh finds beauty in decay and sees elegance in the chaotic
cycle of creation and destruction. Many of his photographs,
from beautiful plants and weeds growing in an errant garbage
filled alley and photographs of burning photographs to double
self portraits with seemingly whimsically missing body parts,
his work gives perspective to ideas and concepts that are ostensibly
dark. Yet in this darkness Gabriel shows a sliver of light using
a graceful aesthetic capturing natural color using natural lighting.
His work is often intense and visually stimulating while requiring
a second look to find the subtext. |
